18 Persons From Haryana Arrested for Cheating in Army Recruitment Exam in Karnataka; High-Tech Devices Seized

In a major crackdown on examination malpractice, Karnataka police have arrested 18 persons from Haryana for allegedly cheating in an Indian Army recruitment examination conducted in Bengaluru. Authorities said several high-tech electronic devices used for unfair means were seized during the operation.

The examination was held at the 515 Army Base Workshop in Halasuru, located in Bengaluru.

High-Tech Cheating Racket Busted

According to police officials, the accused were part of an organised racket that used sophisticated gadgets to transmit answers during the exam. The devices allegedly included concealed Bluetooth equipment, micro earpieces, and signal transmitters designed to avoid detection.

Investigators said the equipment was hidden inside clothing and accessories, making it difficult to identify through routine checks.

Coordinated Operation

Authorities acted on specific intelligence inputs about suspicious activities linked to candidates appearing for the recruitment test. Surveillance teams monitored movements around the exam centre, leading to the arrest of the accused.

Police stated that the suspects had travelled from Haryana to Karnataka specifically for the exam and were allegedly working in coordination with external handlers who provided real-time answers.

Devices Seized, Probe Widened

During the operation, officials recovered electronic gadgets, mobile phones, SIM cards, and other communication equipment. Forensic experts are examining the devices to trace the source of the transmitted information and identify additional individuals involved.

Police suspect the racket may have operated across multiple states and are investigating possible links to similar exam fraud cases elsewhere.

Legal Action Initiated

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. The accused are being interrogated, and authorities are verifying whether any insiders were involved in facilitating the cheating attempt.

The incident has raised concerns about the use of advanced technology in competitive examination fraud, prompting calls for stricter screening measures and enhanced digital surveillance during recruitment tests.

Further investigation is underway to dismantle the wider network behind the alleged racket.
