18 Schools Evacuated in Vadodara After Coordinated Bomb Threat; Police Register FIR

Vadodara: Panic gripped Gujarat’s Vadodara on Tuesday morning after 18 schools received a coordinated bomb threat via email, prompting immediate evacuation of students and staff. Police have lodged an FIR and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.

According to officials, 14 schools located within Vadodara city limits and at least four schools under the jurisdiction of Vadodara district police received a facsimile email threatening bomb blasts on their premises. The emails reportedly arrived just as morning sessions were beginning, triggering swift action by school authorities.


Immediate Evacuation and Security Sweep

Following receipt of the threat, school managements alerted the police control room. Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) teams, local police units, dog squads, and fire brigade personnel were rushed to the affected campuses.


Students were evacuated in an orderly manner and gathered at designated safe zones, while parents were informed to pick up their children. Authorities conducted thorough searches of classrooms, playgrounds, parking areas, and surrounding premises.

Officials later stated that no suspicious objects were found during preliminary checks, and the threats appeared to be a hoax. However, police said they are not taking any chances and are continuing inspections.


FIR Registered, Cyber Probe Underway

Police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons for criminal intimidation and creating public panic. Cybercrime experts have been roped in to trace the origin of the email, including examining IP addresses and server details.

Senior police officials said efforts are underway to identify whether the threats were sent from within the country or through international servers using spoofed identities.


Advisory to Schools

Authorities have advised educational institutions to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious communication. Security arrangements around sensitive locations in the city have also been temporarily intensified.

The incident caused anxiety among parents and students but authorities assured that all necessary precautions were taken promptly to ensure safety.
