A 25-year-old man died of a suspected heart attack while participating in a marathon in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore city on Sunday, police officials said.

According to initial reports, the young participant was taking part in the marathon event when he suddenly collapsed mid-run. Fellow runners and event volunteers immediately rushed to his aid after noticing him fall on the track.

Medical personnel deployed at the event site provided first aid before he was shifted to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.


Declared Dead at Hospital

Despite efforts by doctors to revive him, the runner was declared dead at the hospital. Police officials said the preliminary cause appears to be a cardiac arrest, though the exact cause of death will be confirmed after a post-mortem examination.

Authorities have registered a case and are following standard legal procedures.

Police said they are gathering details about the deceased’s medical history to determine whether he had any pre-existing health conditions. Event organisers are also being questioned about the medical arrangements in place during the marathon.
