According to the ECI, the seizures were carried out over a one-month period following the activation of the Electronic Seizure Management System (ESMS)—a digital platform aimed at improving coordination, tracking, and reporting of enforcement actions during elections.

The Commission stated that the crackdown involved a multi-agency approach, bringing together agencies such as police, income tax officials, excise departments, and other enforcement bodies. This coordinated effort has significantly enhanced the detection and interception of illegal cash, liquor, drugs, and other inducements meant to influence voters.

Officials noted that the ESMS has enabled real-time data sharing and better surveillance, helping authorities respond swiftly to suspicious activities across different regions. The system has also improved transparency and accountability in the seizure process.

The recovered items reportedly include large amounts of unaccounted cash, liquor consignments, narcotic substances, and valuable goods, which are often distributed during elections to sway voters. The ECI reiterated that strict action is being taken against those attempting to undermine free and fair elections.

The Commission emphasized that such enforcement drives are a critical part of ensuring a level playing field and maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. It also urged citizens to report any instances of bribery or inducement through official complaint channels.

Political observers say the scale of seizures highlights both the extent of electoral malpractice and the growing effectiveness of surveillance mechanisms put in place by authorities.

As election activity intensifies, the ECI has indicated that monitoring will be further strengthened, with continuous coordination among agencies to prevent any misuse of money or influence in the democratic process.
