Aamir Khan Reveals Reason Behind Visit to Arijit Singh’s Home, Says Attempt to Persuade Singer Out of Retirement ‘Was in Vain’

Actor-producer Aamir Khan has finally addressed speculation surrounding his recent visit to singer Arijit Singh’s residence in West Bengal, clarifying that his trip was not solely aimed at convincing the singer to withdraw his decision to retire from playback singing, though he did make an attempt.

Aamir’s visit drew widespread attention after Arijit Singh announced his retirement from playback singing, a decision that left fans and members of the film industry deeply disappointed. The timing of the visit led to intense speculation that Aamir had travelled to Murshidabad to persuade the celebrated singer to reconsider his move.

However, in a recent interaction with Deccan Chronicle, Aamir dismissed these assumptions and revealed the actual purpose behind his travel. He said he was in Murshidabad primarily in connection with the music of his upcoming production Ek Din, which stars his son Junaid Khan in the lead role.

“I was in Murshidabad a few days ago. I wasn’t there to convince Arijit not to quit singing for films. I was there for another purpose,” Aamir clarified. He added that while convincing Arijit was not the primary reason for his visit, he did take the opportunity to speak to the singer about his decision.

“Though I did try my best to persuade him to reconsider, it was in vain. He seems to have made up his mind,” the actor said, indicating that Arijit remains firm on stepping away from playback singing for films.

Aamir also spoke fondly of Arijit’s contribution to Indian cinema, acknowledging the singer’s immense talent and emotional depth. Industry insiders note that Arijit’s possible exit from film music would leave a significant void, given his dominance in Bollywood soundtracks over the past decade.

While it remains unclear whether Arijit Singh will continue making music outside the film industry, Aamir’s comments suggest that the singer’s decision is final—for now. Fans, meanwhile, continue to express hope that the acclaimed vocalist may eventually return to playback singing in the future.
