According to the police, the attack took place in the Model Town area, outside a gurdwara, where Satwinderpal Singh had arrived in his SUV. Two unidentified assailants, reportedly riding a scooter, opened fire on him. Investigators said eight to nine rounds were fired at close range while he was seated inside the vehicle, leaving him critically injured.

The AAP leader was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The brutal daylight killing has sent shockwaves across the region and sparked fear among local residents.

Senior police officials said multiple teams have been formed to investigate the murder. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being examined, and forensic teams have collected evidence from the spot. While the motive behind the killing is yet to be established, the police are probing all angles, including personal rivalry, political enmity, and criminal conspiracy.

Meanwhile, Opposition parties have launched a scathing attack on the AAP-led Punjab government, alleging a complete collapse of law and order in the state. Leaders from rival parties claimed that targeted killings and gun violence have become frequent, questioning the government’s ability to ensure public safety even for political leaders.

Condemning the incident, Opposition leaders demanded a high-level probe and strict action against those responsible. They also urged the government to take immediate steps to curb rising crime and restore public confidence.

The AAP leadership has expressed grief over the death of Satwinderpal Singh and assured that the culprits will be brought to justice. Party leaders said they have full faith in the police investigation and called for calm amid rising political tensions.

The killing has once again brought Punjab’s law and order situation under scrutiny, with demands growing for stronger policing and faster justice in cases of political violence.
