Ajit Pawar Dies in Plane Crash Near Baramati, Maharashtra.

Baramati, Maharashtra: In a tragic aviation accident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar

was died in a plane crash on Wednesday morning near Baramati airport. The aircraft was traveling from Mumbai to Baramati when it crashed during an attempted landing.

According to preliminary reports, the small private aircraft took off from Mumbai at around 8:10 am and crashed approximately 30 minutes later while descending toward the runway near Baramati airport in Maharashtra. The tragic plane crash in Baramati claimed the lives of four other people on board, including pilots and security personnel, making it one of the major aviation accidents in Maharashtra.


Visuals from the Baramati plane crash site showed thick smoke, flames, and the severely damaged remains of the aircraft, with emergency teams, ambulances, and rescue officials rushing to the scene. Firefighters and disaster response teams worked to control the blaze and secure the crash area, while authorities launched an investigation into the Mumbai to Baramati aircraft crash.


The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that all five passengers on board the aircraft died in the Baramati plane crash, and officials said a detailed investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the aviation accident in Maharashtra. Authorities are examining technical faults, weather conditions, and pilot reports to understand the reason behind the tragic crash.


Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader, was scheduled to attend four important public meetings in Baramati ahead of the upcoming local body elections in Maharashtra. His sudden death in the plane crash has sent shockwaves across the Maharashtra political landscape and the entire country, with leaders and supporters expressing deep grief.


The 66-year-old leader was the nephew of veteran politician and NCP founder Sharad Pawar and the cousin of Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule. Both Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule were in Delhi attending the Parliament budget session and are expected to travel to Pune following the tragic news of Ajit Pawar’s death.


Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader, is survived by his wife Sunetra Pawar and sons Parth Pawar and Jay Pawar. Political leaders from across parties expressed condolences and paid tribute to his long political career, public service, and contributions to Maharashtra politics.
