Belagavi Police

According to officials, a misleading message circulated widely on social media platforms, accompanied by images of a ransacked house and a photograph of the officer. The post alleged that RSS activists had targeted and attacked her family members.

⚠️ Fake Claim Exposed

After verifying the matter, Belagavi police clarified that the claim was completely false and baseless. Authorities confirmed that:

  • No such incident had taken place

  • The images used were unrelated to the officer or her family

  • The message was fabricated to mislead the public

📸 Misuse of Images

Investigators found that the viral post combined unrelated visuals to create a false narrative. One of the images showed a damaged house, while another featured the officer who had earlier briefed the media during a military operation referred to in the message as “Operation Sindoor.”

Police stated that these images were taken out of context and falsely linked to spread misinformation.

🚔 Action Against Rumour-Mongers

Authorities have launched an inquiry to trace the origin of the fake message and identify those responsible for spreading it. Legal action is likely against individuals or groups found involved in circulating the misleading content.

📢 Appeal to Public

Police have urged citizens to:

  • Avoid sharing unverified information

  • Rely on official sources for updates

  • Report suspicious or inflammatory posts

🔍 Rising Concern Over Fake News

The incident highlights the growing challenge of misinformation on social media, especially when it involves sensitive institutions like the armed forces or organisations.

Officials emphasised that such fake news can create unnecessary panic, harm reputations, and disturb social harmony.

The Belagavi police’s swift clarification has helped prevent the spread of false information, reinforcing the importance of fact-checking in the digital age.
