Bhagalpur DM Nawal Kishor Choudhary Directs Officials to Ensure Peaceful Holi Celebrations

Bhagalpur District Magistrate Nawal Kishor Choudhary on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting on the law-and-order situation in the district and issued strict directives to ensure peaceful and harmonious celebrations during the upcoming Holi festivities.

Focus on Social Harmony

During the meeting, the DM instructed district, sub-divisional and block-level officials, along with Station House Officers (SHOs) of all police stations, to remain vigilant and proactive. He emphasised that maintaining communal harmony and preventing any untoward incident must be the top priority.

Officials were directed to ensure that no activity disturbs social peace in any part of the district during Holi. The administration has been asked to keep a close watch on sensitive areas and take preventive measures wherever necessary.

Enhanced Surveillance and Patrolling

Choudhary ordered intensified patrolling, particularly in identified sensitive pockets. Police teams have been instructed to conduct flag marches and maintain a visible presence to deter miscreants.

He also directed that CCTV surveillance be strengthened in crowded marketplaces and public gathering spots. Special attention will be given to monitoring social media platforms to prevent the spread of rumours or inflammatory content.

Coordination Among Departments

The DM stressed the need for seamless coordination between the police, civil administration and local bodies. Quick response teams are to remain on standby to address emergencies promptly.

Sub-divisional officers have been told to conduct peace committee meetings with local community leaders to promote mutual understanding and cooperation during the festival.

Appeal to Public

The district administration has appealed to residents to celebrate Holi in a spirit of unity and brotherhood. Citizens have been urged to immediately inform authorities about any suspicious activity or attempt to disturb peace.

With Holi approaching, the Bhagalpur administration has stepped up preparations to ensure that festivities pass off smoothly, reinforcing its commitment to law, order and communal harmony across the district.
