🏆 Uttar Pradesh Tops the List

While Bihar ranks among the top-performing states, Uttar Pradesh holds the first position nationally with over 11.63 lakh downloads, reflecting strong digital outreach and awareness efforts in rural areas.

Officials said the growing number of downloads highlights increasing digital penetration and awareness among citizens about accessing government services through mobile platforms.

📊 What the ‘Meri Panchayat’ App Offers

The NIC-developed app provides comprehensive information related to local self-governance institutions. Key features include:

  • 📌 Details of welfare schemes implemented in the panchayat

  • 💰 Information on funds received and expenditure details

  • 🏗️ Updates on ongoing and completed development works

  • 🌦️ Local weather forecasts

  • 📄 Panchayat-level administrative information

The platform allows citizens to track how government funds are being utilised in their villages, thereby promoting accountability and participatory governance.

🌐 Boost to Digital Governance

Officials from the Panchayati Raj Department said the high adoption rate in Bihar reflects the state’s push towards strengthening digital infrastructure in rural areas. Increased smartphone usage and improved internet connectivity have contributed significantly to the app’s outreach.

The app also aligns with the Centre’s broader vision of digital empowerment and transparent governance at the grassroots level.

📈 Growing Public Engagement

Experts believe that easy access to real-time panchayat data encourages community involvement in development activities. By making information about schemes and works publicly available, the app helps reduce misinformation and enhances trust in local governance systems.

With over 3.22 lakh users and counting, Bihar’s strong performance signals a growing shift toward digital participation in rural administration. Officials expect the number of downloads to rise further as awareness campaigns continue across districts.

The initiative is being seen as a key step in modernising India’s panchayati raj institutions and ensuring greater citizen engagement at the village level.
