The leader, Vinay Tamrakar, served as the state convener of the BJP Kisan Morcha’s Rice Mill Processing Project. The action against him was taken after authorities found poppy plants being cultivated illegally at his farmhouse located in Samoda village.

According to police sources, the illegal cultivation was detected during a search operation carried out by local authorities. Officers found a significant number of opium poppy plants growing on the property, which are prohibited without proper government authorization under narcotics laws.

Following the discovery, police initiated legal proceedings and began an investigation into the matter. Officials are also examining whether the cultivation was being carried out for commercial purposes and if other individuals were involved.

Reacting to the development, the Bharatiya Janata Party swiftly suspended Vinay Tamrakar from the party, stating that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in illegal activities. Party leaders emphasized that the organization does not tolerate violations of law or misconduct by its members.

Local authorities said further investigation is underway to determine the extent of the illegal cultivation and to identify any possible links with narcotics networks.

Police officials added that appropriate action will be taken under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 once the investigation is completed.
