Security agencies in Jalandhar were put on high alert after bomb threats were reportedly received for Dera Ballan and two local schools ahead of the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dera Ballan

According to police officials, the threats were received shortly before the Prime Minister’s planned visit to the religious site to mark the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. The event is expected to attract a large number of devotees and community members.

Security Agencies Launch Investigation

Soon after the threats were reported, the Punjab Police and other security agencies launched an investigation. Bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog teams were immediately deployed to inspect the premises at Dera Ballan and the two schools mentioned in the threat messages.

Authorities conducted extensive searches of the locations to ensure the safety of visitors, students, and staff. Initial checks did not reveal any suspicious objects, but security teams continued to scan the area as a precautionary measure.

Tight Security Ahead of PM’s Visit

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Dera Ballan on Sunday to pay respects and participate in events organised in connection with Guru Ravidas Jayanti, an important religious occasion observed by followers of Guru Ravidas.

Given the high-profile nature of the visit, security arrangements in the city have already been strengthened. Additional police personnel have been deployed at key locations, and access to sensitive areas is being closely monitored.

Schools Alerted

Officials said the two schools that received threats were also thoroughly inspected by security teams. School authorities were alerted, and precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Authorities Urge Calm

Police officials have urged the public not to panic and assured that all necessary security measures are being taken. Investigators are working to trace the origin of the threat messages and identify those responsible.

Authorities stated that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in issuing the threats, especially given the sensitive timing ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to Jalandhar.
