Car Plunges into 30-Foot-Deep Pond in Vidisha, 3 Dead, 7 Injured

Vidisha (Madhya Pradesh): A tragic accident shook a wedding celebration in Vidisha late Thursday night when a speeding Tavera car carrying wedding guests fell into a 30-foot-deep pond. Three passengers died on the spot, while seven others sustained injuries, two of them in critical condition, according to local authorities.

Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling at high speed when it lost control near the pond, plunging into the water body. Panic spread among nearby residents and wedding attendees as people rushed to help the trapped passengers.


Rescue teams arrived promptly and worked to pull out the injured from the submerged vehicle. The seven injured individuals were immediately admitted to the Vidisha District Hospital, where medical staff confirmed that two of them were in a critical state and receiving intensive care.


Local police have registered a case of negligent driving and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident. They are also examining whether overspeeding or driver error contributed to the tragedy. Family members of the deceased and injured have been informed, and authorities are coordinating with them regarding formalities.


The accident has sparked concern in the community, highlighting road safety issues in the district, especially in areas near water bodies and poorly lit roads. Officials have urged drivers to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits, particularly during festive occasions involving large gatherings.
