Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kataria highlighted Chandigarh’s unique identity as one of India’s earliest and most successful planned cities. He praised the foresight behind its design, which has enabled it to maintain a balance between urban growth and environmental sustainability over the decades.

Kataria appreciated the consistent efforts of the local administration in preserving the city’s distinctive character. He noted that Chandigarh’s well-maintained infrastructure, organized sectors, expansive green spaces, and high standards of cleanliness have contributed significantly to its reputation as one of the country’s most livable cities.

He also commended the authorities for ensuring that development in the city remains structured and in line with its original master plan, preventing the kind of unregulated expansion seen in many other urban centers. The focus on civic amenities, efficient road networks, and public services has played a key role in enhancing the quality of life for residents.

The Governor further emphasized the importance of continuing this legacy by adopting sustainable practices and embracing modern urban solutions. He called for greater citizen participation in maintaining cleanliness and protecting public spaces, ensuring that Chandigarh remains a model city for future generations.

As the city celebrates its 75-year milestone, officials and residents alike are reflecting on its journey—from a symbol of post-independence ambition to a benchmark for planned urban development in India.
