Shimla: The Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh chaired a high-level बैठक to review preparedness for the first phase of Census of India 2027, directing officials to ensure meticulous planning and coordination at all levels for the smooth conduct of the nationwide exercise.

During the conference, detailed discussions were held on the action plan for the first phase of Census 2027, including timelines, manpower deployment, training modules, and logistical arrangements. Emphasis was laid on strengthening implementation mechanisms at the grassroots level to ensure accuracy and transparency in data collection.

Senior officers from various departments, district administrations, and census authorities participated in the meeting, both physically and virtually.


📋 Training and Infrastructure

The Chief Secretary reviewed arrangements for appointing and training enumerators and supervisors. Instructions were issued to conduct comprehensive training programmes to familiarise field staff with updated guidelines, digital tools, and data collection procedures.

Officials also discussed the availability of infrastructure, including IT systems, connectivity in remote areas, and coordination between revenue, rural development, and urban local bodies.


📊 Importance of Census Data

Highlighting the significance of the census exercise, the Chief Secretary stated that accurate population data is essential for policy formulation, welfare schemes, infrastructure planning, and equitable distribution of resources.

He directed all Deputy Commissioners to monitor preparations closely and resolve any bottlenecks well in advance of the rollout.
