Congress High Command Asks Punjab Leaders to Avoid Public Remarks on Internal Party Matters

The leadership of the Indian National Congress has directed its leaders in Punjab to refrain from speaking publicly about the party’s internal issues, warning that indiscipline and factionalism will not be tolerated.

According to party sources, the directive came from the Congress high command following reports of internal disagreements and public statements made by some state leaders that exposed differences within the party.

Warning Against Indiscipline

Senior leaders at the national level reportedly conveyed a clear message that public criticism or airing of internal matters in the media harms the party’s image and organisational unity. The leadership stressed that discipline within the party structure must be maintained at all levels.

The high command emphasized that leaders should resolve disagreements through internal party forums rather than discussing them publicly.

Concern Over Groupism

The leadership also expressed concern about groupism within the state unit. Party officials said factional rivalries weaken organisational strength and distract from political and electoral responsibilities.

By issuing the directive, the party leadership hopes to prevent further divisions and ensure that leaders focus on strengthening the organisation and preparing for upcoming political challenges.

Commitment to Inclusive Representation

At the same time, the party reiterated its commitment to ensuring fair representation for marginalised and underrepresented communities. Leaders said the Congress remains dedicated to promoting inclusive politics and giving opportunities to different social groups within the party structure.

Focus on Party Unity

The instruction from the high command is seen as part of efforts to maintain unity in the Punjab unit of the Congress. Party insiders say the leadership wants members to prioritise organisational discipline and work collectively toward strengthening the party’s presence in the state.

Officials indicated that any further incidents of indiscipline or public criticism of the party’s internal affairs could invite strict action from the leadership.
