Party Focuses on Booth-Level Strategy, MGNREGA Revival, and Electoral Roll Issues

New Delhi: Congress Strengthens Ground Strategy Ahead of Political Battles
The Congress high command on Thursday (January 29, 2026) held separate meetings with senior party leaders from Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, stressing the need for unity and coordinated action to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the two states.
During the discussions, the Congress leadership urged state leaders to work together, strengthen organisational networks, and aggressively highlight what the party called the BJP’s failures in governance and unfulfilled promises.
Booth-Level Organisation in Focus
A key topic of the meetings was the appointment of booth-level agents and workers, which the Congress sees as crucial for strengthening its grassroots presence. Party leaders were instructed to ensure that booth committees are active and connected with voters to counter the BJP’s organisational strength.
Push for MGNREGA Restoration Movement
The Congress leadership also discussed launching a movement to restore and strengthen MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), alleging that the BJP governments have weakened the rural employment scheme.
Leaders were advised to mobilise rural communities and highlight job losses, delayed payments, and reduced allocations under the scheme.
