Congress, VBA Demand PM Modi’s Resignation; Target RSS Over Alleged Inaction

The opposition Indian National Congress and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) have intensified their attack on the Centre, calling on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh to seek the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over alleged inaction in a controversial matter.

Leaders from both parties claimed that in several countries, individuals whose names surfaced in the so-called “Epstein files” have either resigned from their positions or faced arrest. In contrast, they alleged, no comparable action has been taken in India despite similar concerns being raised.

Addressing the media, opposition leaders argued that accountability should be uniform and that those in positions of power must be held to the same standards observed globally. They questioned why, according to them, there has been no visible investigation or response from authorities in India.

The parties also sought to bring the RSS into the political debate, urging the organisation — often seen as ideologically aligned with the ruling establishment — to take a stand on the issue and demand accountability from the government.

The remarks have added to the ongoing political confrontation between the opposition and the ruling dispensation, with both sides trading accusations over transparency and governance. While the opposition is attempting to raise the issue as a matter of public accountability, leaders from the ruling camp have dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and lacking substantive evidence.

So far, there has been no official response from the government regarding the specific claims made by Congress and VBA. The issue is expected to further escalate in the coming days, with opposition parties likely to raise it in public forums and possibly in Parliament.

The controversy underscores the deepening political divide, as parties continue to leverage both domestic and international issues to challenge each other ahead of upcoming electoral battles.
