Dating Match, Live-In, Then Alleged Brutal Abuse: Tripura Teen’s Ordeal in Gurugram

Gurugram: A 19-year-old woman from Tripura is recovering at a hospital in Delhi after allegedly being subjected to brutal physical assault by her live-in partner in Gurugram.

According to police, the accused, identified as Shivam, met the teenager through a dating platform a few months ago. Their online interaction reportedly developed into a relationship, following which the young woman travelled to Gurugram and began living with him.

Ordeal in Gurugram:Alleged Assault on February 16

In her statement to police, the survivor alleged that on February 16, Shivam assaulted her following a heated argument. She claimed the assault was severe and left her with multiple injuries.

Police sources said the woman was later admitted to a Delhi hospital for treatment. Doctors are monitoring her condition, and she is said to be stable but undergoing recovery from physical trauma.

Investigation Underway

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) pertaining to assault and causing grievous hurt. Police officials confirmed that efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the accused.

Investigators are also examining:

• The timeline of their relationship

• Digital communication records

• CCTV footage from the residential area

• Statements from neighbours and acquaintances

Authorities said they are verifying whether there were earlier instances of abuse during the live-in arrangement.

Broader Concerns

The case has sparked concern about the safety of young individuals entering relationships through online platforms and relocating without adequate safeguards. Police have advised people to exercise caution while sharing personal information or moving in with individuals they have recently met online.

Officials reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against the accused if the allegations are substantiated.
