Delay Likely in Implementation of Revised Pay Scales for Telangana Employees

The implementation of revised pay scales for government employees in Telangana is expected to take more time, as the state government awaits the final report of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC).

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka indicated that the tenure of the PRC has been extended until the end of this month, allowing it additional time to complete its recommendations. The government is likely to take a final decision on the revised pay structure only after receiving and reviewing the commission’s report.

The delay has left lakhs of state government employees and pensioners waiting for clarity on salary revisions, which are typically implemented periodically to adjust for inflation and cost of living. Employees’ unions have been closely monitoring the developments and are hopeful that the government will act swiftly once the report is submitted.

Officials stated that the PRC is in the final stages of compiling its findings, which include recommendations on salary hikes, allowances, and pension benefits. The commission’s report is expected to have significant financial implications for the state exchequer, and the government will need to carefully assess its fiscal impact before taking a decision.

The Deputy CM assured that the government is committed to the welfare of its employees and will take a balanced decision that considers both their expectations and the state’s financial position. He emphasised that due process must be followed to ensure that the recommendations are implemented in a sustainable manner.

Meanwhile, employee associations have urged the government to avoid further delays and to implement the revised pay scales at the earliest, citing rising living costs. Some groups have also demanded that the revised scales be applied with retrospective effect once approved.

The final decision is now contingent on the submission of the PRC report, after which the state cabinet is expected to deliberate on its recommendations before announcing the new pay structure.
