Delhi Businessman Beaten to Death with Helmets by Three Delivery Agents in Connaught Place

A 36-year-old businessman was allegedly beaten to death by three food delivery agents following a heated argument in central Delhi’s Connaught Place, police said. The victim, identified as Shivam Gupta, succumbed to his injuries on January 19 after battling for his life in hospital for more than two weeks.

The incident took place on the night of January 3, when Gupta had gone to attend a party in the Connaught Place area, one of the capital’s busiest commercial and shopping hubs. According to police, an argument broke out between Gupta and three delivery riders, which quickly escalated into a violent assault.

Investigators said the three attackers used their helmets to repeatedly punch and strike Gupta, causing severe head and body injuries. After the assault, the accused allegedly fled the spot, leaving the businessman bleeding on the pavement. Passersby later alerted authorities, following which Gupta was rushed to a hospital.

Despite undergoing treatment for over two weeks, Gupta could not recover from the injuries and was declared dead on January 19. Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated a detailed investigation.

Officials said CCTV footage from the Connaught Place area is being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the role of each accused. Gupta’s blood-stained clothes have been seized and sent for forensic examination to strengthen the case.

Senior police officers said further action will be taken based on forensic reports and witness statements. The incident has sparked concern over rising incidents of street violence in busy public areas of the national capital, with calls for stricter law enforcement and improved night-time policing in commercial zones.
