According to officials, the incident occurred while the युवक was reportedly handling the weapon inside the house. During the process, the pistol went off accidentally, and the bullet struck his mother in the face at close range. Family members and neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing the gunshot.

The woman was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Police teams reached the scene soon after receiving information and seized the illegal firearm.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the pistol was a country-made weapon possessed without a valid licence. Authorities are probing how the युवक acquired the firearm and for what purpose it was being kept.

An FIR has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Police officials said the case is being investigated to determine whether the firing was purely accidental or if any other angle needs to be examined.

The accused youth is being questioned, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Authorities have reiterated strict action against illegal possession of firearms, warning that such negligence can lead to fatal consequences.
