A woman from Delhi reportedly spent an entire night hiding in a forest in Uttarakhand after escaping an alleged rape attempt by a taxi driver. The incident has raised serious concerns about passenger safety during travel.

Rape Attempt by Taxi Driver

Woman Flees Into Forest to Save Herself

According to police sources, the woman was travelling in a taxi when the driver allegedly tried to sexually assault her during the journey. Realising the danger, she managed to escape from the vehicle and ran towards a nearby forested area to avoid the attacker.

Fearing that the driver might pursue her, the woman hid deep inside the forest and remained there throughout the night to ensure her safety.

Reaches Village Next Morning

After hours of hiding, the woman cautiously made her way out of the forest early the next morning. She eventually reached Patwa Dangar, where local residents came to her assistance.

Villagers helped her contact authorities and ensured she reached a safe place before reporting the incident.

Police Complaint Filed

With the support of locals, the woman filed a formal complaint with the police on Friday (March 6). Officials have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and locate the accused taxi driver.

Investigation Underway

Police teams are currently examining vehicle details, possible travel routes, and surveillance footage to trace the suspect. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken once the accused is identified and apprehended.

The incident has once again highlighted the need for stronger safety measures for women travellers, particularly during long-distance or late-night journeys.
