📰 Eight Killed in Kaushambi Road Accident as Pickup Truck Rams into Trailer; CM Announces Compensation

A tragic road accident in Kaushambi claimed the lives of eight people after a pickup truck carrying devotees collided with a trailer, leaving several others injured.

According to police officials, the pickup vehicle was transporting around two dozen devotees, including women and children, who were travelling from Prayagraj to Fatehpur. The accident occurred when the speeding pickup truck rammed into a stationary or slow-moving trailer on the highway.


The impact of the collision was severe, leading to the immediate death of several passengers, while many others sustained injuries. Locals and emergency responders rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations, shifting the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.


Authorities stated that some of the injured are in critical condition, raising concerns that the death toll could rise. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether overspeeding, driver fatigue, or poor visibility played a role.


Reacting to the incident, Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and announced financial assistance for the victims. The State government will provide ₹2 lakh each to the families of those who died in the accident and ₹50,000 to those injured.


The Chief Minister also directed district officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured and to extend all necessary support to the affected families.


The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety, especially involving overcrowded vehicles and long-distance travel by devotees. Authorities have urged drivers to follow safety norms and exercise caution to prevent such tragedies.
