‘Family Trip’ Turns Drug Bust: Delhi Couple Among Three Arrested With Heroin Worth ₹7.5 Crore

In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, police have arrested a Delhi-based couple who allegedly used the cover of a “family trip” to transport drugs worth ₹7.5 crore. A third accused, believed to be the intended receiver of the consignment, has also been taken into custody.

1.504 Kg Heroin Recovered

According to officials, law enforcement recovered a total of 1.504 kilograms of heroin from the accused. The contraband, valued at approximately ₹7.5 crore in the international market, was seized during a targeted operation based on specific intelligence inputs.

Police said the couple attempted to avoid suspicion by presenting themselves as tourists travelling with personal belongings. However, their movements reportedly raised red flags, prompting authorities to intercept and search them.

Planned Delivery to Local Contact

Investigators revealed that the drugs were meant to be handed over to a local contact, who has now been identified and arrested. Officials believe the trio were part of a larger supply network and are probing potential links to interstate or international drug syndicates.

“The accused were under surveillance after we received credible information. The recovery confirms that this was a planned delivery,” a senior officer stated.

Modus Operandi Under Scrutiny

Preliminary investigations suggest that traffickers are increasingly adopting unconventional methods — including posing as families or tourists — to evade detection. Authorities are examining call records, financial transactions, and travel history to trace the source of the heroin and identify other individuals involved.

Legal Action Initiated

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused are being interrogated, and further arrests may follow as the investigation progresses.

Police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking networks and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

The incident serves as a reminder of the evolving tactics used in narcotics smuggling and the continued efforts of enforcement agencies to dismantle such operations.
