Farmers’ March to Jaipur Called Off After High-Voltage Drama, Says Hanuman Beniwal Protest Sent ‘Historic Message’ to Rajasthan Government

Hanuman Beniwal Farmers’ March Called Off After Drama in Rajasthan

Jaipur, January 14, 2026 — Farmers’ March Halted After Overnight Tension

A farmers’ march to Jaipur, led by Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) convener and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal, was called off on Wednesday morning after several hours of high-voltage political drama and tense negotiations with authorities.

The march was launched to press the Rajasthan government to address long-pending grievances of farmers, including crop compensation, electricity tariffs, minimum support price (MSP) guarantees, and debt relief.

Massive Convoy Heads Towards Jaipur

Mr. Beniwal began the march on Tuesday from Riyan Badi in Nagaur district, with hundreds of farmers and supporters joining him in a long convoy of vehicles. The protest aimed to reach Jaipur and stage a large demonstration to pressure the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led state government.

The movement triggered heightened security arrangements along major highways, with police deploying additional personnel to maintain law and order.

Tense Standoff With Police and Administration

As the convoy moved closer to Jaipur, authorities attempted to stop the march from entering the city. Barricades were placed at key entry points, and negotiations were held with RLP leaders throughout the night to prevent escalation.

Officials said the situation remained tense for several hours as farmers insisted on continuing their march, while the administration cited security concerns.

March Called Off After High-Voltage Political Drama

In the early hours of Wednesday, Mr. Beniwal announced that the march to Jaipur had been called off. However, he said the protest had already achieved its purpose by drawing attention to farmers’ issues.

‘Historic Message to the Government,’ Says Beniwal

“The dharna at Riyan Badi has sent a historic message to the government. Farmers across Rajasthan are watching, and the government will have to render justice to the people waiting for resolution of their grievances,” Mr. Beniwal said.

He added that the agitation would continue in other forms if the government failed to respond to farmers’ demands.

Sharp Attack on BJP-Led Rajasthan Government

Mr. Beniwal strongly criticised the BJP government, accusing it of neglecting farmers and failing to fulfill election promises. He alleged that rising input costs, power shortages, and inadequate compensation for crop losses have pushed farmers into financial distress.

The RLP leader warned that protests could intensify if concrete steps were not taken soon.

Political Impact Ahead of Key Political Developments

Political analysts believe the farmers’ march could have significant political implications in Rajasthan, particularly among rural voters. Opposition parties have also seized on the issue to target the ruling government, while the BJP maintains it is committed to farmers’ welfare through various schemes.

What Lies Ahead for the Farmers’ Movement

Although the Jaipur march has been halted, RLP leaders indicated that protests may continue through district-level rallies, public meetings, and future mobilisations. The state government has yet to issue a detailed statement, but officials said talks with farmer groups are ongoing.
