Mumbai:Mumbai Police have arrested four persons in connection with the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, which took place on Sunday (February 1, 2026). Preliminary investigations have revealed a suspected link between the accused and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, raising serious concerns over organised crime involvement.

According to police officials, bullets were fired at Rohit Shetty’s home, triggering panic in the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The attack prompted an immediate security response, and a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act.

The four accused were later brought to Mumbai following their arrest and were produced before a local court, which remanded them to police custody till February 5 to allow further investigation. Officials said custodial interrogation is crucial to identify the motive behind the attack and to trace possible masterminds.

Sources in the police said the initial probe indicates that the accused were in contact with Shubham Lonkar, a known associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Lonkar is also an accused in the murder case of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, making the firing incident a matter of heightened concern for law enforcement agencies.

Investigators are examining call records, financial transactions, and digital evidence to determine whether the attack was intended as a threat or extortion attempt. Police are also probing whether more individuals were involved in planning or executing the firing.

Meanwhile, security around Rohit Shetty’s residence has been tightened, and police have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the filmmaker and his family. Senior officials stated that further arrests cannot be ruled out as the investigation progresses.
