Govt to Spend ₹1,000 Crore to Upgrade Hamirpur Medical College into Multi-Speciality Hub: CM

The Himachal Pradesh government will invest ₹1,000 crore to transform the Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College and Hospital (RKGMCH) into a state-of-the-art multi-speciality institution, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced on Friday.
The announcement came after the Chief Minister inspected the ongoing construction and expansion works at the medical college in Hamirpur district.

Vision to Build the State’s Best Medical College
Addressing officials and media during his visit, Sukhu said the government is committed to upgrading RKGMCH into the best medical college in Himachal Pradesh.
“Our government will spend ₹1,000 crore to make the medical college a multi-speciality hospital and the best medical college in the state,” he stated.
The Chief Minister reviewed progress on new buildings, hospital infrastructure, and additional facilities being constructed as part of the expansion plan.
Major Infrastructure Expansion
Under the proposed upgrade, the medical college will witness:
Expansion of hospital bed capacity
Establishment of advanced speciality and super-speciality departments
Modern diagnostic and critical care units
Upgraded operation theatres and emergency services
Improved hostel and residential facilities for students and staff
