Gujarat’s ₹4.08 Lakh Crore Budget Targets ‘Olympic-Ready’ Ahmedabad, Tourism Boost and New Mining Projects

The Gujarat government has unveiled a massive ₹4.08 lakh crore budget outlay, laying strong emphasis on transforming Ahmedabad into an “Olympic-ready” city, boosting tourism infrastructure, and launching new mining initiatives to strengthen industrial growth.

The budget, presented in the state Assembly, outlines a development-focused roadmap aimed at infrastructure expansion, sports excellence, and economic diversification in Gujarat.

Olympic-Ready

‘Olympic-Ready’ Ahmedabad

A key highlight of the outlay is the vision to develop Ahmedabad into a city capable of hosting global sporting events, including potential future Olympic bids. Separate funds have been allocated for building world-class sporting infrastructure and upgrading modern transport facilities.

Officials indicated that investments will go toward constructing and upgrading stadiums, athlete training centres, sports academies, and high-performance facilities. The focus will also include improved urban mobility systems, expanded metro connectivity, and enhanced road networks to handle international-scale events.

The move aligns with the state’s ambition to position itself as a national hub for sports excellence and international competitions.

Tourism Gets Major Push

Tourism development forms another pillar of the budget. The government has earmarked funds for promoting heritage circuits, coastal tourism, eco-tourism, and religious destinations across Gujarat.

Plans include infrastructure upgrades at key tourist sites, better connectivity, improved hospitality facilities, and global marketing campaigns to attract both domestic and international visitors. Authorities aim to generate employment opportunities and stimulate local economies through tourism-led growth.

New Mining Projects to Boost Industry

The budget also proposes new mining projects to enhance resource extraction and support industrial expansion. Officials said the focus will be on sustainable and regulated mining practices to ensure environmental compliance while increasing mineral output.

The mining push is expected to strengthen supply chains for manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, contributing to the state’s overall economic momentum.

Infrastructure and Economic Growth

Apart from sports, tourism, and mining, the ₹4.08 lakh crore outlay includes allocations for urban development, rural infrastructure, water supply, renewable energy, education, and healthcare.

The government has stressed fiscal discipline while maintaining high capital expenditure to accelerate growth. Emphasis has been placed on public-private partnerships to fund large-scale infrastructure initiatives.

Strategic Vision

With this expansive budget, Gujarat aims to consolidate its position as one of India’s leading economic powerhouses. The twin focus on global sporting aspirations and industrial development reflects a broader strategy to blend international visibility with grassroots economic expansion.

As implementation begins, attention will now turn to how effectively these ambitious proposals translate into on-ground transformation in the coming financial year.
