Ranchi:A tragic incident unfolded in Jharkhand’s Ranchi after a young chartered accountant allegedly died by suicide, while his mother, a practising High Court lawyer, and his 14-year-old sister were left in critical condition following an apparent coordinated suicide attempt at their residence in the Ashok Nagar area.

Police identified the deceased as Mihir, who had recently returned to Ranchi from Kolkata after completing his Chartered Accountancy (CA) studies. According to preliminary findings, Mihir allegedly hung himself at the family home. By the time neighbours alerted authorities and police reached the spot, he had already succumbed.

Investigators said Mihir’s mother, Sneha Akhouri, a practising advocate at the Jharkhand High Court, and his 14-year-old daughter also attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance. Both were rushed to Guru Nanak Hospital, Ranchi, where doctors said their condition remains critical.

Initial information suggests that Mihir had recently secured a job with a corporate firm after completing his CA, and had returned home only a short while ago. Police are examining the sequence of events, family circumstances, and any possible stressors that may have led to the incident. Statements from relatives and neighbours are being recorded, and forensic evidence is being collected from the residence.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances behind the tragic episode. Officials said more details would emerge after the survivors’ statements are recorded and medical reports are reviewed.
