Himachal Pradesh Plans ₹3,000 Crore Tourism Push; CM Sukhu Woos Industry at CII Meet

The Himachal Pradesh government has unveiled an ambitious plan to invest around ₹3,000 crore in the tourism sector, aiming to boost infrastructure, attract private investment, and position the hill state as a premier destination for both domestic and international travellers.

Speaking at a conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made a strong pitch to industrialists, assuring them of a business-friendly environment and proactive government support.

Sukhu emphasised that the state government is committed to ensuring ease of doing business and warned that harassment of investors would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He encouraged industry leaders to directly approach him with their grievances, promising swift redressal and transparent governance.

Highlighting the need for administrative reforms, the Chief Minister said that all necessary approvals and clearances for industries should be provided through a single-window system. He directed the Industries Department to take a more active role in facilitating investments and supporting entrepreneurs at every stage of project implementation.

The proposed ₹3,000 crore investment is expected to focus on developing tourism infrastructure such as eco-tourism projects, wellness centres, adventure tourism hubs, and improved connectivity to remote destinations. The government also aims to promote sustainable tourism practices to preserve the fragile Himalayan ecosystem while generating employment opportunities.

Sukhu noted that tourism is a key driver of the state’s economy and has immense potential for growth if supported by modern infrastructure and private sector participation. He invited investors to explore opportunities in hospitality, transport, and allied sectors, assuring policy stability and incentives.

Industry representatives at the event welcomed the government’s initiatives but also highlighted the need for faster clearances, improved road connectivity, and consistent policy implementation to attract long-term investments.

With this push, the Himachal Pradesh government is looking to create a robust tourism ecosystem that not only enhances visitor experience but also contributes significantly to economic growth and job creation in the state.
