Hoax Bomb Threat to Dehradun District Court Triggers Massive Search Operation

Dehradun: A hoax bomb threat sent to the Dehradun District Court on Tuesday triggered panic and led to a large-scale search operation by police and security agencies.

According to officials, the court premises received an anonymous threat warning of an explosive device inside the complex. Following the alert, police immediately evacuated courtrooms and adjoining areas as a precautionary measure.

Teams from the local police, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad were rushed to the spot. The entire premises were thoroughly searched for several hours. However, no suspicious object or explosive material was found.

Senior police officials later confirmed that the threat turned out to be a hoax. “A detailed search was conducted across the court complex. Nothing suspicious was recovered. The threat appears to be fake,” an officer said.

Series of Threats in Uttarakhand

Police added that several district courts across Uttarakhand have received similar bomb threats in recent days, prompting heightened security measures. Authorities are investigating whether the threats are connected and attempting to trace the source of the messages.

Cyber experts have been roped in to examine email headers and digital footprints to identify those responsible. Officials said strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty of spreading panic through false threats.

Court Proceedings Affected

The temporary evacuation caused disruption to scheduled hearings, with some proceedings delayed or rescheduled. Litigants and lawyers were seen waiting outside the premises until the search was completed and security clearance was given.

Police have appealed to the public not to panic and assured that adequate security arrangements are in place. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the repeated hoax threats.
