Hotels May Shut If LPG Supply Not Resumed, Warns Bengaluru Hotels Association

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Hotels Association has warned that many hotels and restaurants in Bengaluru, Karnataka, may be forced to shut operations if the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is not restored soon.

According to association representatives, several eateries across the city are facing a severe shortage of LPG cylinders, which are essential for cooking and daily operations in hotels and restaurants. The shortage has disrupted normal functioning, leaving many establishments struggling to prepare food for customers.

Members of the association said that if the situation continues, many small and medium-sized hotels may have no option but to temporarily close their businesses. They urged authorities and gas suppliers to resolve the issue quickly to avoid disruption in the food service industry.

Hotel owners pointed out that thousands of workers depend on the hospitality sector for their livelihood. Any prolonged halt in operations could affect employees, suppliers, and customers alike.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister of Karnataka, criticised the Government of India over the recent increase in LPG cylinder prices. He said the hike was unjustified and placed an additional financial burden on businesses and households.

Siddaramaiah stated that the price rise has made it difficult for many sectors, particularly the hospitality industry, to manage operational costs. He urged the Centre to reconsider the decision and take steps to ensure adequate LPG supply.

The issue has sparked concern among hotel owners and industry stakeholders, who say quick intervention is necessary to prevent widespread disruption in Bengaluru’s food and hospitality sector.
