🎬 ‘Ikkis’: Sriram Raghavan Explores War Through the Eyes of a 21-Year-Old Soldier

Acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan is bringing a deeply emotional and thought-provoking war story to the big screen with his upcoming film Ikkis. The film explores the meaning of duty, courage and sacrifice through the life of a young soldier who believed that serving his country was more important than questioning the hardships of war.

The film is inspired by the real-life story of Arun Khetarpal, one of the youngest recipients of India’s highest wartime gallantry award, the Param Vir Chakra. Khetarpal was just 21 years old during the Indo‑Pakistani War of 1971 when he displayed extraordinary bravery on the battlefield.

In the movie, Arun Khetarpal is portrayed by actor Agastya Nanda. According to director Sriram Raghavan, the film is not just about the battlefield but about the mindset of a young officer who saw his duty as sacred and unquestionable.

Raghavan said that Ikkis attempts to examine war from a personal and emotional perspective rather than only focusing on action and military strategy. By placing Arun at the center of the story, the audience is invited to see the complexities of war through the eyes of a young soldier who is driven by responsibility and patriotism.

While the film is rooted in historical events, the director has acknowledged that some dramatic liberties were taken to create a compelling cinematic narrative. In the film, Arun is shown navigating intense battlefield situations while also confronting the emotional weight of war and the expectations placed upon him.

Agastya Nanda’s portrayal is expected to capture the courage, vulnerability and determination of a young man who found himself at the heart of a historic conflict. The film reportedly blends powerful war sequences with moments that highlight the human side of soldiers who fight for their nation.

Sriram Raghavan, known for critically acclaimed films like Andhadhun and Badlapur, has approached Ikkis with a focus on storytelling that questions the realities of war while honoring the bravery of soldiers.

With its mix of historical inspiration, emotional storytelling and intense war drama, Ikkis is expected to be one of the most anticipated films focusing on India’s military history. The film aims to remind audiences of the sacrifices made by young soldiers and the difficult choices they face in the line of duty.
