In Assembly, Nitin Nabin Says Bihar Is Treated With Respect Now

Patna: For the first time since assuming charge as national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Nabin attended the ongoing Budget Session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Tuesday and asserted that Bihar is now being treated with greater respect at the national level.

Addressing members of the House, Nabin said the State’s image has improved substantially under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by Nitish Kumar. He credited the coalition government with restoring governance standards and accelerating development initiatives.

First Appearance After Elevation

The 45-year-old leader, who was recently elevated to head the BJP at the national level, continues to serve as a five-time MLA from the Bankipore constituency in Patna district. Although he stepped down from his role as a Cabinet Minister following his new organisational responsibilities, he has retained his membership in the Assembly.

His presence during the Budget Session was seen as politically significant, especially amid ongoing discussions on the State’s fiscal roadmap and development priorities.

‘Improved Image and Governance’

During his address, Nabin maintained that Bihar’s national standing has strengthened due to improved law and order, infrastructure development, and welfare implementation under the NDA government. He argued that earlier perceptions of Bihar have changed and that the State now commands greater recognition and credibility.

He also highlighted initiatives undertaken in sectors such as roads, education, and healthcare, stating that consistent governance has contributed to economic and social progress.

Political Reactions

Opposition members, however, questioned the government’s claims and raised issues related to unemployment, migration, and inflation. They argued that challenges remain and that the State’s development indicators require further improvement.

Despite political sparring, Nabin’s participation marked a notable moment in the Assembly proceedings, signalling continued coordination between the State leadership and the BJP’s central organisation.

The Budget Session is expected to continue with detailed debates on allocations and policy directions for the coming financial year.
