In Bihar Assembly, Nitin Nabin Says State Now Treated with Respect

Patna — For the first time since assuming charge as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Nabin attended the ongoing Budget Session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, asserting that the State’s standing and image have improved significantly under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Addressing members during the session, Mr. Nabin said Bihar is now “treated with respect” at the national level and credited the NDA government for bringing political stability, governance reforms, and developmental momentum to the State.

“The perception of Bihar has changed. Today, the State is being viewed with respect across the country. This transformation has been possible because of good governance and consistent development efforts under the leadership of Nitish Kumar ji,” he said in the House.

Focus on Governance and Development

Mr. Nabin emphasized that infrastructure growth, improved law and order, investment initiatives, and welfare schemes have contributed to the State’s improved reputation. He argued that Bihar, once associated with negative narratives, is now being recognized for progress in sectors such as road connectivity, education, healthcare, and rural development.

He also highlighted the Centre-State coordination under the NDA, stating that cooperation between the Union government and the Bihar administration has accelerated key projects and ensured smoother implementation of schemes.

First Assembly Appearance as BJP National President

Tuesday’s appearance marked Mr. Nabin’s first participation in the Assembly proceedings since taking over as BJP’s national president. Despite stepping down from his Cabinet position, he has retained his membership of the House as a five-time MLA from the Bankipore constituency in Patna district.

At 45, Mr. Nabin is considered one of the younger leaders in the party’s national leadership structure. His continued presence in the Assembly is being viewed as a move to maintain direct engagement with State politics while handling national responsibilities.

Political Context

The remarks come amid ongoing political debates during the Budget Session, where the Opposition has raised concerns over employment, inflation, and development claims. Responding to criticism, Mr. Nabin defended the NDA government’s record and said the administration remains committed to inclusive growth and transparency.

He reiterated that Bihar’s improved image is not merely rhetorical but reflected in measurable progress and stronger institutional governance.

Looking Ahead

As the Budget Session continues, discussions are expected to focus on fiscal allocations, welfare schemes, and infrastructure planning for the upcoming financial year. Mr. Nabin’s participation signals the BJP’s intent to project confidence in the NDA government’s performance in Bihar while reinforcing its broader political messaging at the national level.
