India Stonemart 2026 Concludes With Call for Ecological Balance and Safe Mining

Jaipur: The four-day India Stonemart 2026 concluded in Jaipur with a strong message on balancing industrial growth with ecological responsibility and worker safety in the mining sector.

The international exhibition and conference, one of the largest platforms for the stone industry in Asia, brought together exporters, quarry owners, policymakers, architects, and global buyers to discuss innovation, sustainability, and market expansion.

Governor Stresses Responsible Mining

Addressing the closing ceremony, Haribhau Bagade highlighted that Rajasthan continues to lead the country in stone mining, diversity of natural stones, and exports. He noted that the state’s granite, marble, sandstone, and slate industries have positioned it as a global hub for dimensional stones.

However, the Governor underlined that rapid industrial expansion must not come at the cost of environmental degradation. He stressed that ensuring ecological balance, promoting scientific mining practices, and strengthening worker safety standards are essential for long-term sustainability.

“Providing social security to workers in the mining industry is not just a policy matter but also a moral responsibility,” he said, calling for stronger welfare measures, health safeguards, and insurance coverage for labourers.

Focus on Sustainability and Technology

Industry experts at the event discussed the need for adopting modern extraction techniques, reducing waste generation, and improving quarry rehabilitation practices. Speakers emphasised that sustainable mining and environmental compliance will determine India’s competitiveness in global markets.

There were also deliberations on value addition, advanced stone processing technologies, and expanding export footprints amid fluctuating global demand.

Boost to Trade and Investment

Organisers stated that the exhibition witnessed participation from several countries, facilitating business networking and export deals. Rajasthan’s stone sector contributes significantly to employment and state revenue, making it a critical component of the regional economy.

With India aiming to strengthen its position in the global natural stone market, the event concluded with a unified call for responsible growth — combining economic expansion with environmental stewardship and worker welfare.
