At least six people were hospitalised after allegedly consuming contaminated food at a birthday party in Bhagirathpura area of Indore, officials said on Sunday.

 Six Hospitalised

Incident After Birthday Celebration

According to information provided by the district health department, nearly 60 people had attended a birthday celebration in Bhagirathpura late Saturday night, where food was served to guests.

By Sunday morning, several attendees began complaining of symptoms such as vomiting, stomach pain, nausea, and weakness. As their condition worsened, six individuals were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Health Department Response

Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Madhav Hasani confirmed the incident and said that medical teams were dispatched to assess the situation. He stated that preliminary findings suggest food contamination, but samples have been collected for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause.

“Some people developed health complications after consuming food at the party. They are currently under observation, and their condition is stable,” Dr. Hasani said.

Investigation Underway

Health officials have taken food samples from the venue and are conducting an inspection to identify any lapses in food preparation or hygiene standards. Authorities are also recording statements from the hosts and catering staff to ascertain how the contamination may have occurred.

Condition Stable

Doctors treating the patients have reported that all six individuals are responding well to treatment and are out of danger. Other guests who experienced mild symptoms were treated on an outpatient basis.

The local administration has urged residents to ensure proper food safety measures during social gatherings to prevent such incidents.

Further updates are awaited pending the laboratory report and official findings.
