Jharkhand Civic Polls: BJP-Backed Candidates Win in Ranchi, Medininagar; JMM Triumphs in Giridih, Deoghar

Ranchi: The results of the civic body elections in Jharkhand have produced a mixed outcome for major political parties, with BJP-backed candidates securing victories in Ranchi and Medininagar, while the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) emerged victorious in Giridih and Deoghar.

Civic Polls

In Ranchi, Roshni Khalkho, a BJP-backed candidate, won the mayoral election by defeating her nearest rival Rama Khalkho, who was supported by the Indian National Congress. According to election officials, Roshni Khalkho secured 1,57,669 votes, while Rama Khalkho received 1,43,306 votes, giving the winner a margin of 14,363 votes.

The victory is being seen as a significant political boost for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state capital. Supporters celebrated the win as results were announced, with party workers expressing confidence that the new leadership would focus on improving civic infrastructure and public services in the city.

Meanwhile, BJP-backed candidates also registered a win in Medininagar, further strengthening the party’s presence in urban local bodies across the state.

However, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha managed to secure victories in Giridih and Deoghar, highlighting the competitive nature of the elections and the continued influence of regional political forces.

Political analysts say the results reflect a balanced political landscape in Jharkhand’s urban areas, with both national and regional parties maintaining strong support bases.

Election officials confirmed that the polling process was conducted peacefully with adequate security arrangements across all major municipal areas. With the results declared, the newly elected representatives are expected to assume office soon and begin addressing civic issues such as urban infrastructure, sanitation, water supply, and traffic management.

The civic poll outcomes are likely to play a role in shaping political strategies ahead of future elections in Jharkhand.
