Jamshedpur:The 24-year-old son of prominent Jamshedpur industrialist Devang Gandhi, who was kidnapped earlier this month, has been rescued safely, bringing relief to his family and the local business community. The victim, Kairav Gandhi, was abducted on January 13 and remained missing for 14 days before being recovered, police officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Kairav Gandhi rescue

Kairav Gandhi reached his residence in Jamshedpur at around 4.30 am on Tuesday, officials said, following his safe rescue from the kidnappers. According to police, he was recovered from a location between Hazaribagh in Jharkhand and Gaya in neighbouring Bihar, indicating that the abductors had moved him across districts during captivity.

Jamshedpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey confirmed the successful recovery and said ensuring the safety of the kidnapped youth had been the police’s top priority. “The victim has been recovered unharmed. Our focus now is on identifying and arresting those involved in the crime,” the SSP said.

Police officials added that raids and technical surveillance operations are continuing to track down the kidnappers. Investigators are examining call records, vehicle movement, and other digital evidence as part of efforts to crack the case completely.

Kairav Gandhi, a resident of the CH area of Jamshedpur, was abducted between 11.30 am and 1 pm on January 13. On the day of the incident, he had left home in his Hyundai Creta car and informed his family that he would first visit SBI Bank in Bistupur, then proceed to his company located in Adityapur, before returning home for lunch. When he failed to return and contact was lost, the family alerted the police, triggering a large-scale search operation.

Further details regarding the motive behind the kidnapping and the role of the accused are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
