Jharkhand Man Strangles Wife, Stages Road Accident to Claim ₹15 Lakh Insurance; Arrested

In a chilling case from Jharkhand, a man from Hazaribagh was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and attempting to pass it off as a road accident to claim an insurance amount of ₹15 lakh.

Man Strangles Wife

According to police officials, the accused allegedly strangled his wife at their residence following a domestic dispute. After killing her, he is said to have transported the body to a secluded roadside area and staged a fake accident scene to make it appear as though she had died in a vehicular mishap.

The incident initially appeared to be a tragic road accident, and the accused informed local authorities and relatives that his wife had succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. However, suspicions arose during the post-mortem examination when doctors found very few external injuries on the body—injuries that were inconsistent with a fatal road accident.

Investigators also noted marks around the victim’s neck, suggesting possible strangulation. Further forensic examination confirmed that the cause of death was asphyxiation rather than injuries from a collision.

During questioning, the accused reportedly gave inconsistent statements about the sequence of events, which further strengthened police suspicion. Upon sustained interrogation, he allegedly confessed to killing his wife with the intention of claiming the insurance amount.

Police have registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against the accused. Officials stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine whether anyone else was involved in the planning or execution of the crime.

The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the extreme lengths to which some individuals may go for financial gain.
