LPG Prices Hiked: Domestic Cylinder Up by ₹60, Commercial by ₹115

In a move that will impact household budgets and businesses alike, oil marketing companies have increased the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) across India. The price of the domestic cooking gas cylinder has been raised by ₹60, while commercial LPG cylinders used by hotels, restaurants, and small businesses have become costlier by ₹115.

LPG Prices

Second Price Increase in 11 Months

This is the second hike in LPG prices in the last 11 months. The previous increase took place in April 2025, when domestic LPG cylinder prices were raised by ₹50.

Oil companies said the latest revision in prices was necessary due to rising global energy costs, particularly amid the ongoing tensions and conflict in West Asia, which have pushed up international fuel prices.

Impact on Household Budgets

The increase in domestic LPG prices will directly affect millions of households that depend on gas cylinders for cooking. With the ₹60 hike, families will now have to pay more for each cylinder refill, adding to the overall cost of living.

Commercial Users Also Affected

Commercial LPG cylinders, widely used in restaurants, hotels, catering services, and small food businesses, have also seen a sharp ₹115 price increase. Experts say this could lead to higher food prices, as businesses may pass on the increased fuel costs to customers.

Prices Vary Across States

The exact price of LPG cylinders differs from state to state. This variation occurs because each state imposes different rates of local sales tax or Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products.

Rising Energy Costs

Officials say the increase reflects the global trend of rising energy prices, driven by geopolitical tensions and fluctuations in international crude oil markets. Oil companies periodically review LPG rates to align them with global market conditions.
