Lucknow School Suspends Students for Eating ‘Too Much Chowmein’ at Farewell Party

Lucknow:An unusual disciplinary action by a private school in Lucknow has sparked debate after several students were suspended for allegedly taking chow mein “multiple times” during a farewell party.

The incident occurred at St. Mary’s School in the Chinhat area during the Class 10 farewell event, which was organised on the school premises. According to students, the farewell included a food counter serving snacks, including chow mein.

During the event, a group of Class 9 students reportedly visited the food counter three to four times to take chow mein. While the students claim there was no restriction mentioned on the number of servings, the matter escalated after the school principal was informed about the repeated visits to the counter.

Following this, the school administration announced a two-day suspension for the students involved, citing indiscipline and violation of school decorum. The decision reportedly surprised the students, who said they were unaware that taking additional servings would attract disciplinary action.

Students and parents have questioned the severity of the punishment, calling it disproportionate and unnecessary for what they believe was a harmless act during a farewell celebration. Some parents also expressed concern that such actions could negatively impact students emotionally.

As of now, the school management has not issued a detailed public clarification, but sources within the administration said the suspension was meant to “set an example” and ensure discipline during school events.

The incident has since gone viral on social media, with many users criticising the school’s decision and calling for more student-friendly disciplinary policies.
