Ahead of the assembly session, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) is likely to be held at 3 pm to finalise the legislative agenda and business to be taken up during the session, official sources said.

The assembly session comes a day after Yumnam Khemchand Singh took oath as the new Chief Minister of Manipur on Wednesday, formally ending 12 months of President’s Rule in the northeastern state. The President’s Rule had been imposed following prolonged political uncertainty and administrative challenges.

Governor Bhalla’s decision to summon the House is being seen as a crucial step toward the restoration of democratic governance and the resumption of legislative processes in the state. The newly formed government is expected to outline its priorities and address key political and administrative issues during the session.

Security arrangements have been strengthened around the assembly complex in Imphal, while political observers are closely watching the proceedings, as this will be the first assembly session since the change in leadership.

Further developments are expected following the Business Advisory Committee meeting and the commencement of the House proceedings later in the day.
