📰 Markapuram Bus Fire: ₹7 Lakh Ex Gratia for Deceased, ₹2.5 Lakh for Injured

In the aftermath of the tragic bus fire incident in Markapuram, compensation has been announced for the victims by both the Centre and the state government.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the families of those who lost their lives in the accident, along with ₹50,000 for those injured.


Meanwhile, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced additional compensation of ₹5 lakh each for the deceased and ₹2 lakh for the injured.


With both announcements combined, the total compensation amounts to:

  • ₹7 lakh for each deceased victim’s family

  • ₹2.5 lakh for each injured person


The bus fire incident, which resulted in multiple casualties and injuries, has triggered widespread grief and concern. Rescue teams and local authorities acted swiftly to control the fire and shift the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.


Officials stated that efforts are ongoing to ensure proper medical care for the injured, some of whom are reported to be in critical condition. Authorities are also investigating the cause of the fire, with initial reports suggesting possible technical failure or other factors.


Leaders across political parties have expressed condolences to the bereaved families, while the government has assured all possible support to those affected.


The tragedy has once again highlighted the urgent need for strict safety checks and preventive measures in public transport to avoid such devastating incidents in the future.
