Maruti Suzuki India’s Year-on-Year Sales Rise 12% to 2,36,963 Units in January

New Delhi:Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSI) on Monday reported a 12 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) increase in its total sales at 236,963 units in January, reflecting steady demand across select segments despite mixed performance in domestic passenger vehicle sales.

The country’s largest carmaker had dispatched 212,251 units in the corresponding month last year, the company said in a statement.

According to MSI, total domestic passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers stood at 174,529 units in January, registering a marginal increase from 173,599 units in the same month a year ago. The modest growth highlights cautious consumer demand amid evolving market conditions.

In the mini segment, which includes popular entry-level models such as Alto and S-Presso, sales edged up to 14,268 units compared to 14,247 units in January 2025, indicating stable demand in the budget car category.

However, sales in the compact car segment, comprising models like Baleno, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, witnessed a decline. The segment recorded 72,738 units in January, down from 82,241 units in the year-ago period, reflecting pressure from rising competition and changing customer preferences.

Despite the mixed domestic performance, Maruti Suzuki’s overall growth was supported by strong contributions from other segments and exports. The company continues to focus on expanding its product portfolio, improving fuel efficiency, and strengthening its dealership network to maintain its market leadership.
