In a statement issued on the matter, Mayawati stressed that every individual and institution must respect the office of the President in line with the values and ideals of the Constitution. She said constitutional positions should not be dragged into political controversies.

The BSP leader emphasized that the President’s office represents the

highest constitutional authority in the country and must be treated with the utmost dignity and respect. She urged political parties and public representatives to avoid actions or statements that could undermine the

prestige of such institutions.

Mayawati also cautioned against politicising constitutional posts, stating that such practices could weaken democratic traditions and the constitutional framework. She said that all stakeholders should act responsibly and ensure that the sanctity of the office is preserved.

Her remarks came amid discussions and criticism over alleged “lapses” during a presidential function, which had triggered political reactions in several quarters.

The BSP chief reiterated that safeguarding the dignity of constitutional offices is a collective responsibility, and maintaining respect for these institutions is essential for strengthening democracy in India.
