Several schools in Mohali received bomb threat emails on Thursday morning, triggering panic among students, parents, and school authorities. The emails also mentioned Fortis Hospital Mohali, prompting immediate security checks at the medical facility.

📧 Threat Emails Trigger Emergency Response

According to police officials, the threatening emails were sent to multiple educational institutions in the city, claiming that explosive devices had been planted on their premises. Upon receiving the alerts, school administrations immediately informed the police.

A senior police official said, “The bomb threat to schools also mentioned Fortis Hospital in Mohali, where we conducted anti-sabotage checks. Non-essential services were kept on hold while essential services continued.”


🚔 Anti-Sabotage Operations Conducted

Police teams, along with bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog units, were deployed to all the locations mentioned in the emails. Thorough anti-sabotage checks were carried out on school campuses as well as at the hospital.

At Fortis Hospital:

  • Non-essential services were temporarily suspended.

  • Patients and visitors were monitored carefully.

  • Emergency and critical medical services continued without disruption.

Authorities confirmed that no suspicious objects were found during the initial searches.


🏫 Schools Evacuated as Precaution

As a precautionary measure, several schools evacuated students and staff while the security sweeps were underway. Parents were informed, and students were either sent home early or kept in designated safe zones until the premises were declared secure.

Officials stressed that the safety of children was the top priority and that all standard operating procedures were followed.


🔍 Investigation Underway

Police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the emails. Cybercrime units are examining email headers, IP addresses, and other digital footprints to identify the sender.

Preliminary indications suggest the possibility of a hoax, but authorities said they are treating the matter with utmost seriousness until investigations are complete.


⚠️ Heightened Vigilance

Security has been stepped up across key public places in Mohali as a precaution. Authorities have urged citizens not to panic and to rely only on official information.

Police said strict legal action will be taken against those responsible once identified, under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act.

The situation is currently under control, and normal activities are expected to resume once final security clearance is given.
