Most-Wanted Gangster Amritpal Singh Detained in Moldova, Says Punjab Police

In a major breakthrough for law enforcement agencies, the Punjab Police has claimed that most-wanted gangster Amritpal Singh has been detained in Moldova. The development was confirmed by Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

Amritpal Singh

According to officials, Amritpal Singh is allegedly linked to the notorious Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang and has been wanted in several criminal cases registered in Punjab, including charges related to organised crime and other serious offences.

Long-Running Search for the Accused

Punjab Police had been tracking Amritpal Singh for a long time as part of its crackdown on organised crime networks operating within the state and abroad. Investigators believe that the accused had fled India and was attempting to evade arrest by moving between different countries.

Authorities said the detention in Moldova marks a significant step toward bringing him back to India to face trial in the cases pending against him.

Coordination with International Agencies

Police officials indicated that Indian authorities are working with international law enforcement agencies to verify the detention and initiate the legal process required for his extradition.

The DGP stated that efforts are underway to complete the necessary formalities so that the accused can be brought back to India under established legal procedures.

Links to Organised Crime

Investigators say the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang has been associated with several criminal activities, including extortion, violent attacks, and other organised crimes. Police believe that Amritpal Singh played an active role in the gang’s operations.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have said further details will emerge as the extradition process progresses and investigations continue. The detention is being viewed as part of a broader effort by Punjab Police to dismantle organised crime networks with links both within India and internationally.

Officials also reiterated their commitment to pursuing criminals who attempt to evade justice by fleeing abroad.
