Narendra Modi Condoles Demise of Ex-Union Minister Mukul Roy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former Union Minister and veteran politician Mukul Roy, describing him as an experienced public representative who made notable contributions to public life.

In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said he was saddened by Mr. Roy’s passing and extended his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and supporters. He acknowledged Mr. Roy’s long political journey and his role in national as well as West Bengal politics.


Mukul Roy was once regarded as one of the closest associates of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and was considered the principal strategist of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) during its formative and expansion years. His organisational skills and political acumen were widely credited with strengthening the party’s grassroots network across the State.


Over the years, Mr. Roy held key responsibilities at both the State and national levels. His political career witnessed significant shifts, reflecting the dynamic nature of West Bengal’s political landscape.
